Jennifer Hopkins began seriously painting in the early 1990's while living in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She did her university studies with a focus in painting and drawing at the San Francisco State University under Cherie Raciti, Paul Pratchenko, and the photorealist painter Robert Bechtle. She also worked with other creative mediums including ceramics and photography.

In 1997, searching for new inspiration, Jennifer moved to the Netherlands. Inspired by the new culture and the country, she continued to develop her own style and personal vision. During this time, she began to work with a new source, the live model. For the last few years, she has worked in an "open atelier" in Eindhoven (N.L.) under Marijke van Overbeek. She continues to strive toward a human vision in relation to her work.
